A facet of Conscientiousness

Deliberation

Deliberation measures how much you think before acting: whether you weigh consequences and plan, or decide fast and on the fly. It's the space you leave between the impulse to decide and the decision.

Scoring high

You think before acting and rarely regret a rushed decision; your caution avoids mistakes. The cost: sometimes so much weighing makes you slow and you miss chances that called for deciding now.

Scoring low

You decide fast and adapt on the fly: analysis doesn't paralyze you and you seize windows others overthink. The blind spot: sometimes haste leads you into mistakes a moment's reflection would have avoided.

The honest nuance

Deliberating a lot doesn't make you wiser and deciding fast doesn't make you reckless: caution avoids mistakes but misses trains, speed catches them but stumbles. What matters is whether your decision speed fits what's at stake, not that it be high or low.

Where it shows. It shows before an important decision, in whether you sleep on things or decide on the spot, in how you react to an expiring opportunity, and in how much you regret decisions made in haste.

And you - where do you fall in deliberation?
